Job Purpose: Would you enjoy supporting a young man to gain independence? This rewarding role involves working with a 20 year old man. Support him with his needs both at home and when going out, mainly providing companionship, ensuring medication is taken and helping with cooking. Some other tasks may be required. The young man has ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), Anxiety and a brain injury, which affects aspects of his physical and mental health.

Location: Watton

Responsibilities

  • Promote independence – Full support required
  • Encourage him to get involved with cooking simple meals, everyday tasks, and to try new experiences
  • Ensure medication is taken when required
  • Support with money purchases
  • Promote friendships, going out socially
  • Work closely with the family and assist the family in having a break. Do not change current routine unless otherwise told
  • Go for days out
  • Basic housekeeping duties
  • Willing to support/work with main carer
  • Occasional weekend and evening work required

Summary terms and conditions

  • The rate of pay for this position is £15 per hour and £12.21 per hour (for waking nights)
  • You will be reimbursed for any agreed expenses incurred as part of the role
  • Hours and times of work: 10 hours per week – Additional overtime may be available. Occasional weekend and evening work will be required. Waking nights for short period only
  • The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work I would normally expect to be done during 5.6 consecutive weeks
  • If this job requires any of the following: manual handling, handling of hazardous chemicals, food handling or the handling of medication, you will be required to undertake annual training

The post is subject to the following

  • A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, the cost of which will be covered by the employer
  • Satisfactory references from two referees, one of which must be your current or last employer
  • Completion of a satisfactory probationary period of 6 months
