Overview

We’re a warm and loving family looking for a kind heart personal assistant to support us in our day-to-day life. We’d love someone who is patient, friendly, enthusiastic, and who enjoys spending time with children – especially those with additional needs. A good sense of humour and the ability to have a giggle.

About Us:
I’m a 42-year-old mum living with fibromyalgia, anxiety, depression, and type 2 diabetes, which means my abilities can vary day-to-day. My husband and our two boys are both on the spectrum, and the boys have very different needs which can sometimes be challenging. We also have a 9-year-old golden doodle, Bonnie, who can be nervous and will bark when you first arrive, but she soon calms with some love and fuss.

Job Description:

This is a varied role where no two days are the same. You’ll be supporting with:

  • General housework and shopping
  • Helping organise bedroom for my children
  • Offering companionship and friendly company
  • Supporting my two wonderful autistic boys (aged 3 & 5) both at home and on days out
  • Any other reasonable duties as requested.

Person specification

Essential:

  • Comfortable working in a home with a nervous dog
  • The ideal candidate would require calmness, reassurance, caring, friendliness and patience.
  • The person I employ, must have an understanding of the need for confidentiality in all areas of work, including total respect for my privacy.
  • Enjoys working with children

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.
  • Flexibility in working hours to accommodate the individual\\\’s needs.
  • Knowledge, training, or experience with autism and understanding of fibromyalgia would be highly beneficial.

Summary terms and conditions

The pay rate for this position is £12.38 per hour for employed PAs and £14.94 per hour for self-employed PAs.

Hours and times of work: 5 hours per week. Time discussed further at interview.

The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work I would normally expect to be done during 5.6 consecutive weeks.

The post is subject to the following:

  • A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, the cost of which will be covered by the employer.
  • Satisfactory references from two referees, one of whom must be your current or last employer.
  • Completion of a satisfactory probationary period of 6 months
