I’m looking for a reliable, organised, and professional Personal Assistant to support me in daily life as I adjust to using a wheelchair. This role can be offered as one position or a job share, depending on availability and suitability. This is a support role and would suit someone who is confident working within clear professional boundaries. I’m passionate about nature, wildlife, and the environment, and enjoy spending time in Bristol’s parks, woodlands, and estuaries. I also have creative interests including painting, drawing, willow weaving, music, reading, and writing. I have a Hahn’s Macaw, who is a big part of my daily routine. Being comfortable around birds is essential.
What This Role Involves
- Support with planning, organisation, and attending appointments or activities.
- Assistance with food preparation (strictly gluten‑free due to coeliac disease — awareness of cross‑contamination is essential).
- Housework, laundry, and light gardening.
- Support with accessibility and mobility as I adjust to wheelchair use.
- Transport support (a driver with access to a car is highly beneficial, as I cannot use public transport).
What I’m Looking For in a PA
- Professional and reliable – able to maintain clear boundaries and follow agreed routines.
- Clear communicator – able to listen, ask clarification, and follow instructions without assumptions.
- Able to emotionally self‑regulate.
- Flexible and adaptable – my health fluctuates, so support needs may vary.
- Knowledge and understanding of Celiac Disease is essential: including foods to avoid and cross contact.
Hours are flexible and should be discussed during interview: 8:30-12:30 am Monday to Wednesday, 8:30-1:30 am Thursday and Friday, 5:30-7:30 pm Monday and Wednesday, 5:30-6:30 Thursday and Friday, and 4 hours on the weekend Saturday morning.
If you are self‑employed please provide HMRC Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR) along with insurance policy number and outline your terms and conditions, charging policy and cancellation notice. If you are employed you will be paid monthly via BACS Transfer – this is not a cash in hand position.
