Job Purpose: I am a 20-year-old woman with autism spectrum disorder, hypermobility spectrum disorders (Ehlers-Danlos), dyslexia, severe anxiety, depression, Raynaud's, and selective mutism. I am seeking a Personal Assistant to help me develop my independence, support my nutritional needs, personal hygiene, home management, social relationships, education, safety, and personal goals.

Location: Alburgh, IP20

Details: This role suits someone with a Mental Health Occupational Therapist qualification or a trainee. I prefer someone of similar age for comfort. I enjoy climbing, wild swimming, hiking, and exercise classes, and need support to maintain my physical and mental health. When in pain, we can engage in indoor activities like board games, vegan cooking, and gaming.

Successful candidates should anticipate issues like personal space and meltdowns, and be discreet and confident in managing these situations without drawing attention. Flexibility is essential due to changing medical needs. Communication support, including signing (BSL), is advantageous, especially when I am unable to speak after initial communication at appointments.

Person Specification:

  • Essential: Flexible, active, sporty, discreet, able to advocate, car owner with a clean license and relevant insurance.
  • Desirable: Mental Health Occupational Therapist qualification or trainee, basic BSL knowledge.

Terms & Conditions:

  • Pay: £11.68/hour
  • Hours: 12 hours/week, flexible, scheduled in advance
  • Holiday: Equivalent to 5.6 weeks of work annually
