Location: Sprowston, NR7
Details: The individual has neurological chronic fatigue and pain, hearing loss, and vestibular conditions following a traumatic brain injury which affects her physically and mentally. She can walk a short distance using a stick or a rollator if outdoors. The Personal Assistant (P.A.) will support her to keep her home safe and tidy, doing some general housekeeping (shopping and cooking). They will help her to keep paperwork organised and may be required to speak on the telephone for her, arranging appointments etc. They will ensure that she has taken medication and may occasionally accompany her to appointments, driving her manual car. Her interests include Art, Crochet, Crafts, and Sewing, and she does need motivation for activities. She also enjoys swimming at a local private pool but would require assistance with dressing.
Person specification:
- Shared interests and a good sense of humour.
- Patient and calm, not patronising.
- Flexible and reliable.
- Full clean driving licence.
- Computer literate and familiar with Apple Mac (or willing to learn).
- Due to personal care in this role, a female is preferred (Schedule 9, P1 of the Equality Act 2010 applies).
Summary terms and conditions:
- The rate of pay for this position is £14.00 per hour.
- Hours of work: 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 09:30-14:30 plus flexible holiday/sickness cover as and when required.
- 5.6 weeks per year pro-rata paid leave, inclusive of bank holidays.
- Free training: Health and Safety, GDPR (confidentiality).
The post is subject to the following:
- A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, the cost of which will be covered by the employer.
- Completion of a satisfactory probationary period of 6 months.
