Looking to employ a bank Personal Assistant to join a small care team. To provide personal care and social support for a lady with a brain injury. Would suit someone looking to gain care experience whilst studying towards a degree in the same field.

Location: Sprowston, NR7

Details: The individual has neurological chronic fatigue and pain, hearing loss, and vestibular conditions following a traumatic brain injury which affects them physically and mentally. They can walk a short distance using a stick or a rollator if outdoors. The P.A. will support them to keep their home safe and tidy, doing some general housekeeping (shopping and cooking). They will help to keep paperwork organised and may be required to speak on the telephone for them, arranging appointments etc. They will ensure that medication is taken and may occasionally accompany them to appointments, driving a manual car. Interests include Art, Crochet, Crafts, and Sewing, and motivation for activities is needed. Swimming at a local private pool is enjoyed but assistance with dressing is required.

Person specification:

  • Shared interests and a good sense of humour.
  • Patient and calm, not patronising.
  • Flexible and reliable.
  • Full clean driving licence.
  • Computer literate and familiar with Apple Mac (or willing to learn).
  • Due to personal care in this role, a female is preferred (Schedule 9, P1 of the Equality Act 2010 applies).
  • It is important that the candidate shows commitment, and if they cannot attend an interview, they advise of this in advance.
  • Someone who listens carefully and speaks clearly.

Summary terms and conditions:

  • The rate of pay for this position is £14.00 per hour.
  • Hours of work: flexible holiday/sickness cover as and when required, up to 160 hours per year.
  • 5.6 weeks per year pro-rata paid leave, inclusive of bank holidays.
