Male Personal Assistant/Support Worker β 12 Hours Per Week - Β£14.67 p/h - Cramlington
Rate of Pay: Β£14.67 per hour
We are looking for a reliable and caring male Personal Assistant to support a gentleman who has had a stroke. The role involves helping him access and enjoy activities within his local community while promoting his independence and wellbeing. The gentleman enjoys playing pool at the local snooker club, walking around Amble, visiting garden centres, and travelling on the ferry between North Shields and South Shields. The successful applicant will provide support with social and leisure activities and helping the gentleman remain active in his community. The gentleman has limited verbal communication, reduced cognition, and may display some behaviours that can be challenging at times, so patience, understanding, and a calm approach are essential. The gentleman lives at home with his wife and two friendly dogs, so applicants should be comfortable around dogs.
Hours of Work:
- 12 hours per week
- 3 shifts of 4 hours per week
- Flexible mornings and afternoons, Monday to Friday, while the employer's wife is at work
Essential Requirements:
- Understanding of safeguarding and maintaining professional boundaries
- Experience or understanding of supporting someone with communication difficulties and challenging behaviour
- Caring, patient, and reliable nature
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle preferred (business insurance is required)
This role would suit someone who enjoys supporting others to access their community, participate in activities they enjoy, and maintain their independence.
