We are seeking a kind, energetic and reliable Personal Assistant to support a happy 14‑year‑old young man with autism who is deaf and uses gestures/BSL and a VOCA to communicate. He enjoys swimming and water-based activities, travelling on public transport (especially trains), and accessing community activities to build appropriate social interactions.

Hours:

  • Term time: 5 hours per week on one weekend day (single 5‑hour block)
  • School holidays (excluding summer): 10 hours per week – Tuesday & Thursday or split across two days
  • Summer holidays: 15 hours per week – Tuesday & Thursday or split across two days

The role includes:

  • Support accessing community and leisure activities
  • Making outings fun, engaging and safe
  • Providing personal care, including support with incontinence
  • Encouraging independence and social interaction at an appropriate level

About you:

  • Have life experience and good risk/safety awareness
  • Essential experience supporting children with autism
  • Experience with deaf or non‑verbal children is advantageous but not required
  • Physically able to support active outings such as swimming
  • Patient, caring and confident
  • No driver required

An Enhanced DBS and references will be necessary. This is a rewarding role for someone who enjoys being active and making a positive difference in a young person’s life.
