About the Employer: A former qualified outdoor pursuits teacher and paracanoeist is seeking a compassionate and reliable Personal Assistant to support with daily living. Following a mountaineering accident in 1984 at age 23, the employer is now a full-time wheelchair user with mobility challenges and wears calipers. She is awaiting a possible shoulder replacement due to recurring dislocations. Despite physical limitations, the employer maintains her interest in sports, folk music, wildlife, and art, and enjoys staying active and engaged in the community. She also enjoys using the computer for tasks such as online shopping and communication, but requires support to do so effectively.
Role Overview: This is a rewarding opportunity to support someone in maintaining independence, health, and wellbeing. The PA will assist with personal care, mobility, and daily routines, while also enabling the employer to pursue their interests and attend appointments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting with personal care routines
- Preparing nutritious meals from scratch with the employer
- Supporting daily walking practice and mobility exercises
- Helping with putting on and removing calipers
- Accompanying to appointments and outings in the community
- Supporting with wheelchair use and transfers
- Assisting with online ordering, using a computer and mobile phone
About You:
- Patient, flexible, and reliable
- Physically able to assist with mobility and wheelchair support
- Comfortable with personal care tasks
- Good sense of humour and positive attitude
- Confident using technology
- Experience in care or support work is helpful but not essential
- Experienced driver with a clean license
- Must be eligible to work in the UK
- A DBS check will be required
