We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated carer over 25 years old (due to vehicle insurance regulations policy) to provide high-quality support to a young man with quadriplegic cerebral palsy, who is non-verbal. The successful candidate will assist with daily activities and support care plans. This role offers an excellent opportunity to make a positive difference while developing your skills within the healthcare sector. The position is paid well and suitable for individuals committed to delivering exceptional care with professionalism and empathy.
Currently, this position is part-time, working with a trained member of staff on Mondays one week and Wednesdays the second week from 10.00 to 20.00, but there is ample opportunity to acquire more shifts when carers take annual leave. Please note there will be some 24-hour shifts (sleeping nights) and so it is imperative that you are able to commit and work independently.
Responsibilities- Assist client with care tasks such as washing, dressing, personal care, manual handling
- Support the implementation of individualized care plans in collaboration with healthcare professionals
- Provide companionship and emotional support to client, ensuring their comfort and dignity
- Maintain accurate records of care provided, adhering to organisational policies and procedures
- Assist with domestic duties including meal preparation, laundry, ironing and cleaning
- Administer client with medication as directed by healthcare professionals
- Communicate effectively with client, family members, and team members to ensure seamless care delivery
- Drive and accompany client to appointments or outings when required (please note driving skills are essential)
- Previous experience in care environment desirable, but not essential as training can be given
- Good communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Basic IT skills for record keeping and documentation purposes
- Ability to work well within a team and independently when needed
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail in following care plans
- Valid driving licence is mandatory
