Support Worker required for an individual in St Pauls P/T. £12.60/hr - FTE - £24.6k.

About Me: I am a 40-year-old woman living in St Pauls with a friendly medium-sized senior dog. My health has declined over the years, which has created barriers to engaging in activities that matter to me and my community. I benefit from a calm and gentle environment. I love my dog, nature, music, creativity, good food, and holistic therapies. I am passionate about environmental issues and fairness for all. I live with multiple chronic health conditions (including ME/CFS, POTS, hEDS, Long Covid, Autism, ADHD, CPTSD, gynaecological and cardiac conditions) that affect my physical and mental health.

About the Role: I’m looking for a Personal Assistant (PA) who can offer practical and emotional support to help me re-engage with various activities and stay connected to the community. My mental and physical health benefit from connecting with nature and breathing fresh air away from pollution. As I do not drive, I require someone who can accompany me to access these spaces. My condition can fluctuate, and I use various mobility aids accordingly. Assistance is needed to use these aids and to choose the suitable one for each moment.

It is necessary to have a good understanding and experience of neurodivergence and the emotional challenges that can arise. I struggle with memory, brain fog, executive functioning, overwhelm, and keeping on top of admin tasks. An individual with strong organisational skills who can calmly assist is important. You should be able to remember things well and use initiative to adapt to different situations and tasks while prioritising my wellbeing. Awareness and sensitivity around navigating the complexities faced by someone with complex needs are essential.

You’ll be supporting me with day-to-day living, including (but not limited to):

  • Prompts and support with eating, drinking, and medication
  • Meal prep/cooking (including batch cooking)
  • Light cleaning (e.g., laundry, bins)
  • Support with organising/decluttering
  • Shopping
  • Reassurance and encouragement with showering/bathing and assisting during symptom flare-ups
  • Planning and attending appointments
  • Physically assisting with mobility aids and wheelchair use
  • Dog walking (occasional)
  • Admin tasks and communication support with various services
  • Helping manage energy and reduce overwhelm

You’ll Need To Be:

  • Calm, compassionate, patient, and adaptable
  • Experienced with neurodivergence
  • Familiar with chronic illness and fluctuating energy/symptoms
  • Covid/contagious illness-conscious and mindful of health vulnerabilities
  • A good communicator, organised, and comfortable advocating when needed
  • Able to drive with access to your own car (Clean Air Zone exempt priority)
  • Able to work collaboratively (especially if employed alongside another PA)

Hours: 15.5 per week (possibility to share with another PA, hours may increase depending on social care review outcome); ideally includes Mondays. Flexibility available. Occasional extra hours on an ad-hoc basis.

Pay: £12.60/hour (weekday rate)

Location: St Pauls, Bristol

Enhanced DBS check required.

If this sounds like a good fit for you, please read the role details carefully and answer the additional questions provided. Showing an understanding of my needs is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meal Preparation
  • Personal Care
  • Domestic Care
  • Social + Leisure activities
  • Support to remain independent
  • Transportation

Full UK driving license and own personal car required.
