One to one female personal assistant required for a lady with an Acquired Head Injury, in her own home in Hamsterly Mill (near Rowlands Gill). She is 47 years old, loves watching movies, doing craft and spending time with her family and her dogs. Brain injury experience preferred, but not essential. Experience in care is required. Car drivers are essential. Staff will be employed by the client. Not self-employed. Multiple staff required to cover all available hours. Day and Night shifts available.

Currently three day shifts (9.45 – 6pm) Monday to Sunday, to be filled, and five night shifts. The night shifts start at 5.45pm till 10am the following morning. However, there is a period of sleep from midnight to 8am, whilst the client sleeps. Staff need to be on hand to assist the client through the night when needed. Salary £14.00 per hour. Time and a half for bank holidays.

The main role of the position is to provide assistance, support and encouragement to the client, with the aim of promoting as much independence as possible.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist client with the smooth running of her home
  • Provide domestic assistance
  • Provide meals for the client
  • Assist in personal care
  • Assist the client with shopping
  • Accompany client to appointments, social events and holidays
  • Help to care for the client’s pets (dogs)

Full job description will be given at interview. On the job training will be given specific to the client.

There is a genuine occupational requirement for the holder of this post to be male/female in accordance with the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014 and Equality Act 2010 schedule 9 paragraphs 1 – 4. At the time of starting their employment, the successful candidate must have permission to work in the U.K.
