Personal Care Assistant for two young boys P/T @ £14.67/hr in Prudhoe - NE42. To provide support for two brothers aged 7 years and 8 years old for 4 hours per week during term time weeks and 8 hours per week during school holiday weeks. The role is to take the boys out separately in the community so that they can access leisure activities.

Main Duties

  • Provide support for the boys on separate days.
  • Assist with personal care for the youngest sibling who is non-verbal and uses PECS to communicate.
  • Offer constant support and supervision to keep them safe due to their struggles with emotional regulation and danger awareness.
  • Engage the younger boy in activities such as going to the park, climbing, running, swimming, and soft play.
  • Engage the older boy in activities such as football, swimming, and outdoor play.

You must be in good general health as the role involves physical activity such as running, lifting, and carrying when needed and supporting in the swimming pool. We would prefer a car driver with your own transport; however, this isn’t essential. Expenses will be met by the employer.

Hours

  • 4 hours per week during term time per child.
  • 8 hours per week during school holidays per child.

Rate of pay: £14.67 per hour. Holidays are 5.6 weeks per year, pro-rata.

Person Specification

  • Experience of working as a support worker with children or adults with complex needs, especially with autism.
  • Knowledge and awareness of PECS and/or speech therapy would be an advantage.
  • Positive understanding towards children with disabilities.
  • High degree of initiative.
  • Punctual and reliable.
  • Flexible.
  • Happy, positive, and caring nature.
  • Respect confidentiality.

An Enhanced DBS Check is required, cost to be met by employer.
