As a Personal Assistant you will support me to stay independent and assist me in the home and in the community. I have multiple chronic health conditions and have ADHD and autism. I enjoy singing, attending church, and I am a fan of Star Wars and Disney. I live with my husband, 2 young daughters (7 and 2) and a one‐year‐old assistance dog in training.
The successful applicant will work flexible hours Monday to Friday.
Location: Hellesdon, NR6The role:
- Personal care, including support with dressing, toileting and hygiene.
- Cooking and food preparation.
- General household duties such as cleaning and laundry.
- Supporting access to the community and days out.
- Assisting with childcare, including supporting a toddler.
- Assisting with dog walking and training.
- School and nursery pick ups.
- Supporting attendance at appointments.
- Providing companionship and emotional support.
- Promoting independence and social engagement.
Person Specification
Essential
- First aid trained (adult and child).
- Understanding of ADHD and autism.
- Awareness of chronic illness, including ME/CFS.
- Experience working with or supporting young children.
- Compassionate, kind and understanding approach.
- Confident working around dogs.
- Flexible and available Monday to Friday.
Desirable
- Driving licence (preferred but not essential).
- Food hygiene knowledge.
- Manual handling training.
Summary Terms and Conditions
- The rate of pay for this position is £12.89 per hour.
- Hours and times of work as follows: 22 hours per week, flexible Monday to Friday.
- The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work I would normally expect to be done during 5.6 consecutive weeks.
- Access to free Care Skills training for employed workers.
The post is subject to the following:
- A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, the cost of which will be covered by the employer.
- Satisfactory references from two referees, one of which must be your current or last employer.
- Completion of a satisfactory probation period of 6 months.
