About the Role
I’m looking for a grounded, practical and warm person to support me in my day-to-day life. I live with my housemate and occasionally dogsit a greyhound, so being comfortable around animals is ideal. This is a rewarding role for someone who enjoys helping others live more easily and safely. You’ll be supporting me with a range of domestic and community-based tasks — and ideally, you’ll be someone who’s direct, down-to-earth and neurodivergent-aware.
Key Responsibilities
- Domestic support (laundry, cleaning)
- Meal prep and cooking (vegan diet)
- Shopping and errands
- Community access and attending appointments
- Occasional support with washing and dressing
- Support with finances and general admin
- Understanding and support around autism and ADHD
About You
- Understanding my blunt and direct communication style
- LGBTQ+ friendly
- Reliable, steady presence, with a practical mindset
- Understanding or experience of neurodiversity (autism & ADHD)
- Ideally able to drive (not essential) – access to Motability car available
- Comfortable around dogs (no full-time pets, but occasional dogsitting)
- Open to applicants with or without prior care experience, but a good understanding of the role is essential
- DBS check required (can start before it returns) – cost covered by funding, result of DBS check will not necessarily determine the continuation of your employment.
Preferred Availability
Very flexible – support needed across the week (Monday to Sunday), morning, afternoon and evening. Specific times can be discussed to suit mutual availability.
About Me
I’m someone who values honesty, independence, and good conversation. My interests include music, yoga, football, Star Wars, psychology, philosophy, nature, queerness, and people. I use a mobility scooter and I have a Motability vehicle, and have a mild wheat allergy. I smoke/vape, I don’t mind if you smoke but I do ask that you smoke in the garden.
Other Info
- You don’t need to be a qualified carer, but you must be willing to learn and be consistent
- Driving is a bonus, not a dealbreaker
- Must be willing to undergo a DBS check (cost covered)
