Personal Assistant - 39 year old lady - 10 hours pw F/T@ £14.05/hr in NR20 - FTE - £27.4k

I’m seeking a compassionate individual to assist with daily household tasks and provide occasional support for my family. I am autistic and have health challenges. I am also a parent to three wonderful children, each with additional needs, including autism, developmental delays, and a chromosomal deletion. Our household thrives with understanding, patience, and an open mind.

Duties

  • Assisting around the house with general tasks.
  • Helping with meal preparation.
  • Running errands and trips to the shops, as needed.
  • Providing support during medical appointments.
  • Any other reasonable duties as requested.

Person Specification

Essential

  • The ideal candidate would require a calming, reassuring, caring presence.
  • The person I employ must have an understanding of the need for confidentiality in all areas of work including total respect for my privacy.
  • An adaptable approach to supporting our family dynamics.

Desirable

  • Flexibility in working hours to accommodate our needs.
  • Knowledge or experience with autism and neurodiversity would be highly beneficial.

Rate of Pay

16.95 - Self Employed

14.05 - Employed

A higher hourly rate is available for self-employed carers, reflecting that they are responsible for their own holiday provision, National Insurance, pension arrangements, and other employment-related costs. Self-employed carers must also demonstrate that they are fully ensured, and registered with HMRC.

Employees receive these benefits through their employment package, which is reflected in the employed rate.

Hours & Days of Work

10 hours per week, shift pattern to be discussed at interview.

Location of Work

NR20

Summary Terms and Conditions

Expenses

You will be reimbursed for any reasonable and pre-approved expenses incurred in the course of carrying out your duties. Where a personal vehicle is used to transport a service user and mileage reimbursement is to be claimed, this arrangement must be authorised in advance, documented within the service user's care plan, and processed in accordance with the organisation's payroll procedures.

Holiday Entitlement

Employees and workers in the UK are entitled to a minimum of 5.6 weeks' paid annual leave per year on an FTE basis. Part time roles will be calculated pro rata. Self-employed individuals are not entitled to statutory paid holiday leave, and any time off is unpaid unless they make their own financial arrangements.

Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS)

This post is subject to a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which will be arranged and paid for by the employer. Where children under the age of 18 live in the household, the successful applicant will need an Enhanced DBS check that includes both the Adults' and Children's Barred Lists. In these circumstances, employment cannot commence within the family home until the DBS clearance has been received.
