We are looking for a kind, reliable and patient carer to support my grandmother in her home in Norwich. My grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s about a year ago. Since then, I have been living with her to help manage day‑to‑day life, but I will soon be moving away. Because of this, we are looking for someone who can step in and provide consistent and compassionate support. Experience with Alzheimer’s or dementia is strongly preferred.

My grandmother is a very sweet, gentle and independent lady who still enjoys her routine and social life. She regularly meets friends and has a love for music, gardening, fashion, reading and cinema. It’s important to us that she is supported in a way that respects her “independence” and personality.

At the moment, we are looking for someone who can visit 2–3 times a day to check in and assist with daily tasks such as:

  • Supporting with personal care
  • Ensuring she has meals prepared (especially lunch)
  • General well‑being checks and companionship

Once I move away, the role may gradually include:

  • Preparing meals more regularly
  • Light housekeeping such as laundry
  • Ensuring she is safe, comfortable and supported throughout the day

This is a flexible role, as needs may vary slightly from week to week, but consistency and reliability are very important. We are looking for someone who is not only experienced but also kind, understanding and able to build a trusting relationship with my grandmother. We are also open to discussing pay and working arrangements to find a setup that works well for both sides. As this is a new process for us, we are happy to consider different options and are open to suggestions on how best to structure the role to create a good balance for the carer as well.
