A reliable, caring and proactive female Personal Assistant/Carer is required to be part of a small team supporting our 30-year-old daughter who lives with her family in the Maidstone area of Kent. She has a rare medical condition and is a full-time wheelchair user with moderate learning difficulties.

This is a rewarding one-to-one role, supporting an independent young woman who is friendly, likeable, has a terrific sense of humour and is a big fan of Little Mix and Married At First Sight. She wants to make the most of life, enjoy her various clubs (without parents!), feel safe and happy and learn to trust other carers apart from Mum!

Duties include:

  • Personal care and assistance with dressing
  • Assistance with mobility and wheelchair support
  • Support at social outings
  • Providing companionship, physical and emotional support
  • Support independence

Requirements

  • Be Female (genuine occupational requirement under the Equality Act 2010)
  • Be Self Employed
  • Hold a full clean UK driving licence
  • Be confident driving an automatic wheelchair adapted vehicle for longer distances on motorways
  • Be a non-smoker/vaper
  • Support and participate in various activities including physical activities such as swimming
  • Be patient, trustworthy, compassionate and flexible
  • A good communicator with a positive attitude
  • Maintain confidentiality and dignity
  • Previous care or support work experience is preferred but not essential for the right candidate

Job details

Weekday and/or weekend work. Breakdown of potential hours:

  • Mondays - 3.5 hours, local based activity
  • Tuesdays & Thursdays - 8 hours, activity day in East Sussex
  • Fridays - 4 hours, local based activity
  • Any other extra social activity and weekend working will be agreed in advance

Full familiarisation will be provided. Hourly rate £18.
