Personal Assistant to support young adult with autism- leeds 9 - Leeds - LS9
We are looking for a kind, patient and reliable Personal Assistant to support a 20-year-old young man with autism in the Leeds LS9 area.
The role is mainly about helping him build confidence and independence while accessing the community and developing everyday life skills.
Support may include going out for meals, visiting parks, shops and other activities, helping him practise ordering and paying for things, using money/banking skills, cooking simple meals, keeping his room organised and giving gentle prompts to help him remember tasks.
He enjoys gaming, music, going out for food and spending time with his dogs. The right person should be friendly, calm, easy to talk to and comfortable around dogs.
He can sometimes become anxious or overwhelmed, so it is important that the PA can remain calm, give reassurance and communicate clearly without rushing him.
We are looking for someone who can encourage independence rather than doing everything for him, while still being available to offer support and prompting when needed.
Experience of autism would be helpful, but finding someone with the right personality, patience and understanding is equally important.
