About the Role
I am seeking a Personal Assistant to support a 64 year old male. The hours will be combined with the existing carer hours. The PA hours will be used flexibly to meet my client’s needs and support him to continue living a full and active life. My client has experienced two strokes and had two knee replacements, which affect his mobility and short‑term memory. He uses walking aids and an electric wheelchair, though he is also able to drive independently. Despite these challenges, he is determined, positive, and enjoys getting out and about. He also lives with PTSD, which can impact his mood at times. He is looking for someone who is not fazed by this, can offer patient, calm support during more difficult moments, and help him achieve a positive outcome. He is a naturally chatty individual, performs stand‑up magic comedy and has a great sense of humour. He values good conversation and a positive outlook on life.
What the Role Involves
- Supporting mobility in the event of a fall or when assistance is needed with accessing toilets in the community (the client will guide you through his preferences)
- Assisting with preparing food and drinks due to mobility limitations
- Supporting community outings, such as:
- Going to the cinema
- Day trips to the seaside
- Fishing trips (learning or simply accompanying him would be a bonus)
Who We’re Looking For
- A friendly, reliable, and supportive person
- Comfortable with light personal care and mobility assistance
- Someone who enjoys being out in the community and helping someone stay active and engaged
- A great sense of humour and a worldly, open-minded approach to life
- A dog lover – the client has three small dogs
This Role Would Suit Someone Who Is:
- Patient, adaptable, and emotionally aware
- Confident supporting someone with physical disabilities and mental health needs
- Looking for a meaningful role making a genuine difference to someone’s life
This role is subject to:
- An Enhanced DBS check (cost covered by the employer if employed)
- Satisfactory references
Benefits for Employed PAs: We offer membership to the Blue Light Card for our employed Personal Assistants, giving you exclusive discounts across a wide range of retailers and services.
