It is paramount the individual demonstrates the following attributes.
The ideal applicant should have some knowledge of ASD & ADHD, & understand the mental health problems that can occur within neurodivergent individuals.
Along with a flexible approach, the ability to show patience, understanding, and demonstrate empathy are important.
Main Duties:
Provide emotional support; and help the individual to maintain their mental health.
Assist with life admin; & helping the individual to maintain their focus.
Help with budgeting, & maintaining household finances.
Communication with contractors, tradespeople, and utilities+insurance suppliers.
Helping the individual correctly interpret and complete complex forms: e.g communications from W.E.C.I.L & DWP benefit review & application forms.
Function as an advocate, when communicating with W.E.C.I.L, DWP, & other organisations.
Essential Criteria:
Experience & understanding of working with someone with autism.
A good understanding of IT software, and computers.
Knowledge & experience of current PIP/benefit legislation.
Must have own vehicle, mileage is included for specific activities.
Personal Qualities:
Responsible, reliable, trustworthy, with a flexible approach.
Excellent timekeeping.
Previous experience as a Support-worker would be advantageous.
Excellent written & verbal communication.
Non-judgemental outlook.
Respect their clients confidentiality & privacy.
