As a Complex Care Support Worker/PA, you will play a crucial role in the day-to-day care and support of an individual with complex health needs. This includes physical disability, learning disability, mental health support, and chronic incurable illness. You will work closely with the individual and their family to ensure they receive the personalised care they need to live a fulfilling and independent life.
This role offers a variety of opportunities to care for a fun loving, vibrant, Christian, young 40 something female wheelchair user with complex health needs. I am looking for a female PA who can help me have the best days I can by assisting me with daily tasks including health, personal care, transfers, medication, attending appointments, domestic support, accessing the community and hobbies.
Responsibilities
- You will be required to carry out health tasks following relevant, appropriate training and competency assessment.
- Provide high-quality person centred care and support for an individual with complex healthcare needs in their own home and/or in the community.
- Support client with complex and unpredictable conditions such as chronic and acute pain, spasmodic limbs, physical and sensory disability, neurological impairment, memory loss, acquired brain injury, autism and mental health challenges.
- The role of a Complex Care Support Worker or Personal Assistant enables me to live an independent life in my own home whilst ensuring that my health and wellbeing needs are met.
Key Responsibilities
- One to one supervision and support is needed in all areas of client’s daily life.
- Helping client move around safely, using assistive devices.
- Assist in moving and handling transfers from bed, chair, car, etc to and from wheelchair and repositioning to prevent pressure damage.
- Administer medication and support with clinical procedures (following appropriate professional training).
- Monitor vital signs, BP, oxygen levels, pain levels, mood, behaviour, and physical health, observing changes in the client's condition, and reporting them to appropriate personnel.
- Be aware of any health deterioration and act immediately, reporting to appropriate personnel then administering emergency medication, as required.
- Assist with all aspects of daily living such as bathing, dressing/undressing, eating and toileting.
- Supervision when eating and drinking to prevent aspiration due to dysphagia.
- Assist to maintain high fluid intake to help prevent and manage UTI’s and autonomic dysfunction.
- Assist with hair, skin, nails, legs, feet, eyes etc.
- Provide companionship, emotional and mental health support.
- Support client in accessing a church, community resources, activities, and social events.
- Maintain accurate records and reports on client progress and health status, including medication administered.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of client at all times.
- Domestic duties - cleaning, ironing, shopping, occasional food preparation.

Job type and Benefits
Job type – This is a permanent position subject to safer recruitment checks, competency assessments for all required healthcare tasks and successful probation and induction.
Benefits – 5.6 weeks paid annual leave, access to workplace pension with employer contribution at statutory rate, training provided, DBS check and Update Service paid by the employer. Pay rate will rise to £15.71 per hour on successful completion of probation period.
This employment is subject to safer recruitment practice. Two references and an enhanced DBS must be received prior to the employment start date and only suitable applicants will be employed.
