We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Personal Care Assistant to support an adult gentleman with Alzheimer’s in his own home. He has significant cognitive impairment and requires patient, structured, and reassuring support throughout the day.

Key Duties

  • Accompanying him on local walks
  • Administering medication at the correct times
  • Engaging him in simple games and activities
  • Assisting with selecting appropriate clothing
  • Preparing meals
  • Ordering monthly medication
  • Providing calm and consistent support, especially when he becomes impatient or unsettled

About the Individual You Will Support

He lives with Alzheimer’s and has a level of understanding similar to that of a young child. At times, he may become impatient, and he can occasionally hit during moments of frustration or when he thinks it is playful. His communication is limited—English is not his first language, and he uses very few Punjabi words. He may become more demanding when there are visitors or family members, such as grandchildren, in the home. A gentle, patient, and confident approach is essential.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Hardworking and reliable
  • Caring and considerate
  • Extremely patient
  • Able to remain calm and reassuring in challenging moments
  • Comfortable working with individuals living with Alzheimer’s or dementia
  • Experienced (even slightly) in supporting people with cognitive impairment
  • A driver with a full, clean licence (essential for this role)

Preferred Availability

Weekends, Evenings

Experience

Previous experience supporting someone with Alzheimer’s/dementia is preferred, though not essential if you have the right personal qualities and willingness to learn.
