Personal Assistant / Support Worker Needed PT @ £14.67 in Ashington

Location: Morpeth

Hours:

  • Term time: 2.5 hours (after school, Tuesday or Thursday preferred)
  • School holidays: Monday–Friday, 4 hours per day

About the Role

We are looking for a caring, energetic, and reliable female Personal Assistant to support a vibrant young girl with Down syndrome. She is full of personality – sassy, cheeky, and determined, with a wonderful spark that can light up a room. At times she can be a bit like a champagne cork popping, but always in a positive, joyful way! Your role will be to support her independence while ensuring she feels safe, confident, and able to enjoy activities she loves.

What She Enjoys:

  • Swimming
  • Messy and water play
  • Soft play sessions
  • Social activities
  • Using her iPad as a calming/distraction tool
  • Attending Scouts and Messy Church (Note: She is not keen on car journeys, so reassurance may be needed.)

What We’re Looking For:

  • Female (essential due to personal care requirements)
  • Able to build a strong, trusting relationship
  • Confident in adapting to changing behaviours calmly and positively
  • Physically active and able to keep up, she is quick on her feet!
  • Patient, warm, and encouraging of independence
  • A driver (preferred) to support access to activities
  • Comfortable administering medication (training can be provided)
  • Clear communicator (no strong accents, due to communication needs)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing after‑school support
  • Supporting attendance at Scouts/Messy Church
  • Assisting with personal care (nappies)
  • Encouraging play, social interaction, and independence
  • Offering reassurance and consistency to help reduce reliance on mum
  • Supporting during school holidays with fun, engaging activities
