Personal Assistant Required - Supporting a Young Girl with Autism

£14.67 per hour | 4 hours per week during school holidays only

A caring, energetic, and reliable Personal Assistant is required to support a happy and engaging 5-year-old girl with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

This young girl is non-verbal and has no awareness of danger, so she always requires close supervision. She is generally easy-going and enjoys a range of sensory activities. She loves bouncing on the trampoline, visiting the aquarium, and exploring new environments.

The role is focused on supporting her to access fun and stimulating activities in the community while ensuring her safety and wellbeing. Due to her curiosity, she can be quick to run towards something that interests her, so the successful applicant will need to be physically active, vigilant, and able to respond calmly in changing situations.

Some personal care support will also be required, as she still wears nappies.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Fun, animated and enthusiastic
  • Reliable, patient and caring
  • Experienced in supporting children with additional needs
  • Confident managing risks and maintaining safety in the community
  • Physically fit and able to keep up with an active child
  • Knowledgeable about autism and sensory needs

Hours of work: 4 hours per week during school holidays only (13 weeks per year), ideally delivered as one 4-hour session on a weekday.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a positive difference to a young child's life while supporting her development, confidence, and enjoyment of activities in the community.

Successful applicants will be subject to satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS check.
