Axmouth Campsite is looking for a friendly, reliable seasonal warden to join our team. We’re a mid-sized, straightforward campsite in a beautiful spot on the Axe Estuary, less than five minutes from Seaton and the beach. This role suits someone who enjoys meeting people, being outdoors, and wants a great lifestyle base for the season. It could be perfect for someone semi-retired who still wants to keep their hand in, but we want to hear from anyone suitable.

We also have The Harbour Inn right next door (practically on site), so support is always close by.

Season: 15th March - 15th October | Must have your own caravan or motorhome

What you get:

  • Free seasonal pitch (15th March - 15th October)
  • Electric included
  • Laundry facilities included
  • Free carvery on Wednesdays & Sundays
  • Beer tokens / staff perks
  • Flexible rota with shared cover

Role 1: Campsite Warden (light duties)

This is mainly about being a friendly on-site presence and helping the site run smoothly. Duties include:

  • Greeting guests and being a helpful point of contact
  • Assisting with arrivals/departures: directing campers to pitches and helping with pitching up if needed
  • Daily site walk‑rounds and reporting issues early
  • Keeping the site presentable: light litter picking, tidying communal areas
  • A bit of mowing/strimming and outdoor upkeep
  • Friendly rule reminders (quiet hours, general site conduct)
  • Escalating anything more serious to management

Hours: typically a few hours per day, more on changeover days. Time off: 1-2 days off per week can be arranged by rota, but as with most on‑site roles, if a guest asks a quick question you’d be expected to help if you’re around. More work available: extra hours can be paid at an hourly rate, and there’s additional work available if you want it.

If you’re a couple: choose one of these partner roles

Option A: Cleaner (facilities + light housekeeping)

  • Cleaning the ladies and gents toilet/shower blocks properly every morning
  • A later check/spruce‑up each day (top‑ups, quick tidy, keep standards high)
  • Light gardening / watering plants
  • Hoovering the small shop/office areas

Option B: Receptionist (more involved, more hours)

This is a more hands‑on role and would suit someone who enjoys admin and guest contact. It can be close to 9‑5, but we can be flexible and negotiate hours/days to make sure you still get a good work‑life balance and time to enjoy the area. Reception duties include:

  • Answering the phone, taking enquiries and bookings
  • Responding to emails, confirming bookings, sending payment details, and answering guest questions
  • Using Excel spreadsheets confidently (allocating pitch numbers, managing bookings)
  • Using the till and taking payments for the on‑site shop
  • Keeping an eye on stock levels and basic ordering / reporting

Experience isn’t essential if you’re organised, confident with people, and willing to learn.

To apply, please message with:

  • A short introduction about you (and your partner if applying as a couple)
  • What you will be staying in (caravan or motorhome)
  • Which role(s) you’re interested in: Warden only / Warden + Cleaner / Warden + Reception
  • Your availability for the season
  • Your contact number

Salary: Pitch provided + perks (pay/retainer negotiable)
