About the Role
UKAS is seeking experienced Radiologists to work as Independent Technical Assessors. This role involves assessing diagnostic imaging services as part of UKAS accreditation schemes, ensuring they meet national quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments of diagnostic imaging services, reviewing clinical practice, reporting, and governance.
- Evaluate compliance with professional standards, regulations, and national guidance.
- Assess information systems, quality assurance measures, and audit processes.
- Provide expert insights on radiation protection, clinical governance, and service delivery.
- Carry out on-site and remote assessments, offering recommendations for quality improvement.
What You Need
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Medical degree (e.g. MBBS or MBChB).
- Current or recent Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR).
- Minimum of 2 yearsβ post-FRCR clinical experience in diagnostic imaging services.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Diagnostic imaging reporting and interpretation.
- Professional standards and guidance for radiologists.
- Radiation protection regulations for diagnostic imaging.
- Clinical governance, audit, and peer review principles.
- Information systems used in imaging services.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Understanding of quality management systems in imaging services.

Professional Registration
