The United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) is looking for a skilled and experienced candidate to take on the exciting and varied role of Assessment Manager within our Asbestos team. This role will specifically focus on testing and surveying for asbestos.
Qualifications
- Good understanding of modern quality management systems in laboratories and inspection bodies, preferably ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO/IEC 17020.
- Good understanding of regulations and HSE guidance relating to asbestos and technical expertise in asbestos surveying, sampling and testing.
- Hold technical qualifications including the BOHS Certificate of Competence in Asbestos (or equivalent) and probably be educated to degree level in a relevant discipline.
- Customer‑focused with excellent interpersonal, communication and organization skills.
- Relevant hands‑on experience, a broad knowledge of the sector and a good understanding of modern quality management systems in organizations.
- Experience in organization auditing or assessment.

The Assessment Manager is the key focal point for customers. You’ll be expected to meet their reasonable accreditation expectations with objectivity, diligence, and excellent customer service.
Responsibilities
- Selecting assessment teams.
- Establishing the assessment approach.
- Leading the assessment and coordinating the team.
- Collating and reporting each assessment.
- Progressing each assessment project from start to finish.
The position involves extensive travel, mainly within the UK, with frequent overnight stays.
