As one of the UK’s leading roofing and cladding contractors, we are looking for an experienced SHEQ Manager who will play a pivotal role in shaping our safety culture, ensuring compliance and driving the overall HSE performance across the company.

As the SHEQ Manager, you will work closely with the senior management team in all aspects of delivery of the company’s Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality Management Systems. This will include, but is not limited to, undertaking audits and inspections, developing operating procedures, preparing reports and statistics, delivering presentations as well as providing advice and guidance to employees and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Determines the strategic direction and work priorities (in conjunction with line management) for the continuous improvement of the office and site SHEQ management programme and systems, in line with the business’s objectives.
  2. Produce or approve RAMS, COSHH data, permits for new contracts.
  3. Assisting site management teams with operational safety guidance and method statement addendums.
  4. Review and monitor subcontractors RAMS, access competence review temporary works.
  5. Monitoring company health & safety targets.
  6. Remain abreast of all relevant HSE laws, codes of practice, standards.
  7. Assist the company in retaining accreditations including ISO 19001, 45001, 1400, Constructionline etc.
  8. Site safety and quality audits.
  9. Investigate accidents, dangerous occurrences and near misses, including leading investigations and providing support on incident management.
  10. Monthly reporting on H&S to the directors.
  11. Prepare and distribute regular health and safety alerts as required.
  12. Conduct HSE presentations & training to employees.
  13. Implement and monitor training and development programmes (Toolbox Talks, inductions, rescue plans).
  14. Monitor training of subcontractors, carry out both in-house and external training as required.
  15. Reporting and following up on supplier quality/non-conformance issues and damage reports.
  16. Assist site management teams with H&S issues and follow up actions.
  17. Assist pre-job planning – H&S and Site Surveys.
  18. Promote our company Blueprint ethos – How we do it safely. H&S campaigns and initiatives.
  19. Monitor compliance of H&S company procedures.

It will be subject to change from time to time and most importantly it should be noted that given the nature of the business this position will require a high degree of flexibility on the part of the post holder.

Key Requirements

  1. Construction industry experience.
  2. Experience with a HSEQ management system.
  3. Experience in the maintenance of ISO 9001 and 14001 certification.
  4. NEBOSH qualification.
  5. IOSH and experience with ISO / CHAS desirable.
  6. Computer literate.
  7. Full Driving licence.

Job Type: Full time, Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm

Location: Office Based (Hulland Ward, Ashbourne, Derbyshire), often visiting construction sites throughout the UK.

Pay: £45,000 – £65,000 based on experience.
