We are looking for an experienced Senior Platform Engineer to join our Engineering team in Wigan. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-moving, cloud-first environment where technology is constantly evolving. You’ll play a key role in designing, building, and delivering robust AWS-based infrastructure and services that enable our wider engineering teams to deliver high-quality software at pace.

Responsibilities

  • As a senior member of the team, you’ll work within a cross-functional environment and contribute across the full software development life cycle — from initial concept through to production deployment and ongoing reliability.
  • You’ll take ownership of designing and maintaining scalable, secure, and high-performing platform infrastructure.
  • You’ll help shape architectural decisions, define design patterns, and ensure solutions meet the needs of both internal and external stakeholders.
  • You’ll work closely with engineering teams to champion cloud-first development, implementing infrastructure as code and CI/CD pipelines that support rapid and reliable delivery.
  • A key part of the role involves configuring, deploying, and monitoring containerised applications using Kubernetes, ensuring system stability and performance.
  • You’ll also contribute to improving security, scalability, and capacity across the platform, while supporting the daily delivery of new software releases.
  • Alongside hands-on technical work, you’ll collaborate with Senior Software Engineers and Product Owners on consumer-facing solutions, mentor junior and apprentice engineers, and take responsibility for diagnosing and resolving production issues to maintain system reliability.

What We Are Looking For

  • We’re looking for a highly skilled platform engineer with strong experience delivering software and infrastructure across multiple environments.
  • You’ll have proven expertise in cloud platforms (AWS preferred), infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform, and working within agile delivery teams.
  • You should be confident writing clean, maintainable code in at least one of the following: C#, TypeScript/JavaScript, or Terraform.
  • Experience deploying containerised applications into production using Kubernetes is essential, as is a strong understanding of scalable, highly available systems — particularly for web applications handling time-sensitive or high-traffic data.
  • You’ll bring deep knowledge of modern web, mobile, and cloud technologies, along with experience working with databases and content management systems.
  • A passion for continuous improvement, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to analyse metrics to drive informed decisions are key to success in this role.
  • Finally, you’ll be a collaborative team player who enjoys mentoring others, while also being a self-starter who can identify what needs to be done and see it through to completion.
