We’re looking for an Estates Manager who’s passionate about creating safe, well‑maintained, and high‑quality environments for people to work in. If you enjoy variety, problem‑solving, and taking ownership, this role offers the chance to make a real impact across the UKTL estate.
What you’ll do:
- Lead the development and delivery of the UKTL Estates Programme and Estates Strategy.
- Ensure compliance with all property legislation, leases, and statutory obligations.
- Maintain accurate asset records and estate documentation.
- Oversee planned and reactive maintenance, including M&E systems, building fabric, and grounds.
- Manage suppliers, contractors, and relationships with the GPA Property Agency.
- Support capital projects and long‑term estate planning.
- Lead on estate‑related business continuity, risk management, and emergency response.
- Promote and uphold Health & Safety responsibilities at all times.
Successful applicants must be able to commute to the UKTL offices in Birmingham, as this role requires being on site for the majority of the week (ideally 4–5 days). While there is some scope for hybrid working, the nature of the position means regular on‑site presence is essential. We are committed to supporting a positive work–life balance. If you are seeking full‑time, part‑time, or flexible working arrangements, we will explore these options where business needs allow. However, due to the operational requirements of this role, flexibility will be considered within the context of it being primarily site‑based.
About You:
What you’ll bring:
- We are seeking an experienced Estate Manager with a strong track record of working in secure environments.
- The ideal candidate will bring experience from the government, public sector, or critical national infrastructure (CNI), with a clear understanding of the operational, security, and compliance requirements that come with managing sensitive sites.
- Strong organisational skills and technical estates knowledge.
- Experience managing contractors, suppliers, or facilities services.
- Confidence working with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
We actively recruit citizens of all backgrounds, but the nature of our work in this specific area means that nationality, residency and security requirements are more tightly defined than others. To work in this role, you will need to hold an SC clearance with no restrictions. You are welcome to apply without already holding SC clearance; however, you will not be able to start in post until the clearance has been successfully granted.
Please note: Applications will be reviewed, and interviews conducted throughout the duration of this advert therefore we may at any time bring the closing date forward. We encourage all interested applicants to apply as soon as practical.
