Senior Quantity Surveyor | Progression to Associate Director
If you're an experienced Quantity Surveyor looking for a role where you'll have a genuine voice, real career progression and the chance to help shape the future of a growing consultancy, we'd love to hear from you. We're working with an established independent Quantity Surveying consultancy that has built an outstanding reputation within the fast-track fit-out sector. Their success has been built on long-standing client relationships, delivering a highly personal service and maintaining the highest standards across every project they undertake. Unlike larger consultancies, this is a business where people know each other, support one another and work together. They value collaboration, professionalism and building lasting relationships, both internally and with their clients. They're now looking to welcome a Senior Quantity Surveyor who shares those values.
The Role
- You'll take ownership of projects from pre-contract through to final account, managing the commercial aspects of fast-track fit-out projects typically valued between £250,000 and £2 million.
- This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same.
- Alongside managing your own projects, you'll work closely with clients, build trusted relationships and support the development of an apprentice within the team.
- The business operates across both Birmingham and London, offering flexibility around your base location.
- If you're London-based, you'll typically spend Tuesdays and Wednesdays in the Romford office, with the remainder of your time split between client sites and flexible working.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage projects from pre-contract through to post-contract and final account.
- Prepare cost plans, valuations and commercial reports.
- Administer and manage JCT contracts.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients.
- Manage the commercial performance of multiple live projects.
- Mentor and support an apprentice.
- Attend client meetings and site visits as required.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver successful project outcomes.
What We're Looking For
We're interested in speaking with experienced Quantity Surveyors who enjoy taking ownership of projects and being part of a supportive team. You'll ideally have:
- Experience delivering fast-track fit-out projects, ideally between £250,000 and £2 million.
- Strong pre and post-contract Quantity Surveying experience.
- Confidence in a client-facing role.
- Experience working with JCT contracts.
- A collaborative attitude and a genuine team-first approach.
- Excellent commercial awareness and communication skills.
- Experience within retail fit-out would be advantageous, but it's by no means essential.
- Candidates from a contractor background are also encouraged to apply.
Why Join?
This is more than just another Senior Quantity Surveyor position. You'll be joining a consultancy that's entering an exciting stage of its journey, with clear plans for future growth and succession. The leadership team is passionate about developing people from within and sees this hire as someone who could progress into an Associate Director position over time. For the right individual, there will be opportunities to mentor junior team members, build your own team through apprentices and play an important role in the future direction of the business. If you're looking for somewhere your contribution will genuinely be recognised, rather than feeling like another number in a large organisation, this is well worth considering.
Salary & Benefits
- £65,000 - £75,000 DOE.
- Flexibility up to £85,000+ for exceptional candidates approaching Associate Director level.
- Private Medical Insurance.
- Death in Service cover.
- Company Pension.
- Office shutdown over the Christmas period.
- Genuine career progression and long-term development opportunities.
- Flexible working between Birmingham and London locations.
