About You
You are someone who has active involvement in a community sports club and understands their governance and ethos. You are someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, are well organised with administrative experience, including knowledge of MS Office 365. You can think creatively to overcome challenges and have a positive forward-looking outlook in regards to the overall development and promotion of the club. This role will involve outreach to communities underrepresented in athletics as well as supporting our current athletes, volunteers and coaches, so you are confident and a good communicator with a range of audiences. You are passionate about inclusivity and equality in sport.
About the Role
Musselburgh & District Athletic Club (MDAC) is a well-regarded club covering East Lothian and the east of Edinburgh, with clear objectives for future development. In 2026, the Club celebrates its seventieth year. MDAC has a strong core of athletes, recreational runners, coaches, jog leaders and volunteers. The Club wishes to build on these foundations and intends to grow and develop athletics in our local area, reaching out to underrepresented demographics and making us a Club that truly represents the whole community.

- Explore the strengthening of club pathways with the aim of keeping more people in the sport.
- Support the existing volunteers to ensure they are motivated and recruit new volunteers.
- Linking with other local community organisations to promote and increase membership of MDAC.
- Reaching out into the community to attract under-represented areas of society into the club, for example, people in SIMD bands 1-3 and from refugee and minority ethnic groups.
- Supporting the club's fundraising activities including increased membership, corporate sponsorship and new grants.
- Supporting the Club in appropriate responsibilities linked to the role as set out by the Board of Trustees.
Staff
scottishathletics employs 33 members of staff and 21 Club Together Officers.
Place of Work
Hybrid working. The main Club base will be at Fisherrow Yacht Club, 97 New Street, Musselburgh, EH21 6DG. The club operates from additional training bases within the Musselburgh and surrounding area.
Salary
The starting salary offered for the post will be £9,360. Annual pay awards will be made in accordance with the salary review procedures agreed by the scottishathletics Board of Directors.

Hours of work
The person appointed will be expected to work for 12 hours per week. Due to the nature of the post, there will be a requirement to work in the evenings and at weekends. The organisation encourages a flexible working approach from all staff, consistent with meeting the needs of the business.
Pension
scottishathletics operates a qualifying group pension scheme for auto-enrolment purposes and will match the successful candidates' contribution up to a maximum of 6% of salary, including the legal minimum contributions required.
Annual Leave and Public Holidays
The annual leave entitlement for this post is 25 days pro rata. In addition, the public holiday entitlement is 10.5 days pro rata.
Travel and Subsistence
The post holder may occasionally be required to travel to meetings within Scotland and occasionally in the UK. Travel and subsistence will be reimbursed by the Club at its current rates for any journeys made outside of the EH21 postcode.
Probationary Period
All new members of staff will serve a three-month probationary period before their appointment is confirmed.
Notice
This post carries a one-month period to terminate employment after the satisfactory completion of the probationary period.
