The Role CFG are seeking a Football Finance Manager to play a key role in delivering day-to-day financial support for MCFC and MCWFC Football Operations. The role will involve financial modelling of proposed player transactions, supporting budgets and forecasts, and contributing to key external regulatory reporting, while working closely with stakeholders across Football Operations and the wider Group.
Your Impact Managing day-to-day financial operations - Taking the lead on critical financial processes to support the successful delivery of MCFC / MCWFC Football Operations. This includes close collaboration with Operational and Performance teams, as well as coordination with other Corporate Functions. Responsibilities cover contingent and bonus tracking, payroll support, and ad-hoc operational analysis. Outputs from financial modelling will directly inform commercial performance, budget planning, and cash flow forecasting.
Scenario planning and impact analysis - Modelling the impact of proposed player transactions and other major projects. Working to tight deadlines, particularly through transfer windows, and providing support in relation to the structure of commercial terms and cash profiles.
Internal Reporting - Providing support on player transactions for budgets, forecasts, long-term planning and Emerging Talent reporting. The role will also support financial analysis and reporting between Group functions and CFG clubs.
External Regulatory Reporting - Lead role in the preparation of reporting for key external regulatory submissions, including UEFA Financial Sustainability Regulations, WSL Financial Sustainability Regulations, Premier League Squad financial regulations and other regulators as relevant.
Ad hoc support - Providing ad hoc support to appropriate members of the Football Finance team and Group Football Operations Leadership on matters that could include player financial appraisal, contract analysis, market analysis.
What we are looking for Essential Multi-year experience of working in a fast-paced accounting, tax, or consulting environment Experience of working in a deadline driven environment with concurrent multiple workstreams Positive, open mindset; driver and leader of change Self-starter with the ability to work independently, prioritise tasks and deliver outputs Highly motivated individual with an interest in the workings of the Football Industry
Desirable Qualified ACA, ACCA, or CIMA accountant Tax background/experience, specifically employment taxes Experience of working with large volumes of complex data Advanced financial modeller; spreadsheet and database power user Experience of working in the football industry and a thorough understanding of the process of player transactions Knowledge of key football industry regulations (UEFA, PL, WSL, FA)
