About the role
The EURO 2028 Senior Finance and Business Officer will act as the EURO 2028 team’s key point of contact, internally and externally on all financial matters related to the team’s activity. The focus of the role will be on managing all financial reporting requirements; implementing financial payment processes; and, supporting the EUROs team to deliver its financial assurance programme, team procurement activity and contract management requirements. The role will also provide a key liaison function for UK Sport’s corporate Finance Team.
About you
The postholder will have a passion for major events, their impacts and a belief in the benefits they can confer on the cities and communities of the UK. You will have excellent financial acumen and literacy, including a professional accountancy qualification; experience in budgetary reporting, procurement and contract management, and; be confident when presenting to and working with senior officials from government. The postholder will also require a positive outlook and excellent interpersonal communication and stakeholder management skills. A sense of humour and the capacity to manage relationships through UK Sport values will also be essential.

With its unique hosting model, the event promises to spread the impacts and benefits of the tournament across the nations and communities of the UK and Ireland.
The UK and Ireland Football Associations are supported by the government partners to deliver the tournament, and the partnership will continue to work together across governments and football associations throughout the tournament lifecycle. UK Sport is an enabling partner and will support government and football partners throughout tournament planning and delivery. In the context of EURO 2028, UK Sport is responsible for overseeing the distribution of Exchequer funding to key delivery partners and providing technical advice to, and supporting government and football partners.
Role Requirements
• Act as UK Sport’s EURO 2028 Team lead on financial matters
• Working with UK Sport EURO 2028 Team:
o Oversee the preparation of all Grant Funding Agreement financial reporting requirements, servicing internal and external stakeholders as needed
o Manage the implementation of the finance policies, plans and procedures
o Prepare in year and tournament lifecycle cost projections for UK Sport areas of responsibility
o Ensuring that effective financial controls are maintained by Grant Funding recipients throughout the lifecycle of the project
o Coordinate team-wide Grant Funding Agreement financial assurance related procedures, to ensure reporting requirements are implemented and all public investment evidentiary requirements are met
• Working with UK Sport’s corporate Finance Team, manage the implementation of all EURO 2028 related payments processes
• Manage the administration of UK Sport’s EURO 2028 Team budget
• Liaise with DCMS officials on EURO 2028 financial matters including any financial reporting requirements, ad hoc requests and advice as required
• Where required, liaise with and support any Host City and UK&I 2028 Ltd officials to resolve Grant Funding Agreement related enquiries
• Act as the principal contact, liaise with and provide regular reporting to UK Sport’s corporate Finance Team on behalf of the EURO 2028 Team, including supporting financial year end processes and reporting requirements to DCMS
• Support EURO 2028 team procurement and contract requirements as needed
