I am recruiting on behalf of my client, a leading aerospace operation in Yeovil specialising in the manufacture and support of safety-critical aerospace systems, including Environmental Control Systems, Life Support Systems, Hydraulics Systems and Control & Data Systems. I am looking for an experienced Fitter / Wireman to join their day-shift manufacturing team, carrying out the assembly, wiring and testing of aerospace equipment to exacting engineering, customer and regulatory standards.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Fitter / Wireman with mechanical fitting and aerospace wiring experience to work within a highly regulated manufacturing environment. You will work as part of an empowered team, ensuring equipment is manufactured and delivered on time while maintaining the required quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Producing aerospace products in accordance with engineering drawings and manufacturing instructions
  • Carrying out mechanical fitting and testing of Life Support and Environmental Control Systems equipment
  • Completing aerospace wiring activities, including soldering to J standard
  • Carrying out crimping to IPC processing requirements
  • Undertaking pressure testing as required
  • Interpreting engineering drawings, process layouts and associated manufacturing documentation
  • Carrying out Operator Control of Quality (OCQ), including confirming assemblies meet the required quality and customer standards
  • Ensuring work is completed on time and to the required standard
  • Following established company processes and procedures
  • Maintaining a consistently high standard of Health & Safety
  • Working effectively within a Lean manufacturing environment
  • Supporting continuous improvement activities
  • Working Collaboratively With Designers, Engineers And Other Members Of The Manufacturing Team

Qualifications

  • Aerospace wiring experience, including soldering to J standard
  • Crimping Experience To IPC Processing Requirements
  • Knowledge and practical experience of mechanical fitting applications
  • Knowledge of pressure testing
  • An Engineering Apprenticeship would be desirable but is not essential
  • An understanding of aerospace practices and the importance of safety-critical work; relevant manufacturing experience will also be considered
  • The ability to interpret and work accurately from engineering drawings
  • Strong awareness of Health & Safety requirements
  • Good teamwork skills, flexibility and the ability to use initiative
  • Experience working within a customer-focused environment and achieving targets
  • PC literacy
  • A commitment to continuous improvement
  • The ability to consistently follow controlled company processes and procedures

Further training will be provided where required, including company operating systems, PC skills, Manual Handling, 5S, HOS Principles and general Health & Safety.

The successful Fitter / Wireman will be required to meet the eligibility conditions associated with Export Control Licences and Technical Assistance Agreements.
