About the role
The UKRI website, ukri.org, is one of our most important external communications channels – the front door to UKRI's services, funding opportunities, and the stories of our impact on society and the economy. With hundreds of thousands of users each month, it plays a central role in how the research and innovation community engages with us.
The Senior Web Delivery Manager sits in the Web team, part of External Affairs and Communications.
The Web team is a multidisciplinary group of content, product and delivery professionals. We use data and evidence to drive the continuous improvement of the website, making it simpler, clearer and more useful for our audiences.
This is a genuinely interesting moment to join us. We are evolving our web content strategy and content operations – building more sustainable, scalable ways of working that will shape how the team delivers for years to come.
As Senior Web Delivery Manager, you will play a central role in how the Web team operates day to day, translating strategic priorities into well‑managed, high‑quality web delivery. You will lead on workload planning, stakeholder coordination, and continuous improvement of our processes – working closely with content designers, developers, product managers and colleagues across UKRI.
Your responsibilities:
Delivery and Operations
- Plan, prioritise and manage the delivery of web content activity across ukri.org, using a combination of Agile methodologies, your knowledge of the UKRI website proposition, and appropriate planning tools.
- Implement, manage and continuously improve workflows, methodologies and ways of working to support an effective, well‑run team.
- Be an expert user and Web team champion of Asana, our workload and project management tool.
- Use data, evaluation techniques and reporting to support capacity planning and drive the most effective outcomes for UKRI.
- Proactively manage risks and dependencies, developing mitigations to get the best value from the Web team within organisational constraints.
- Apply editorial judgement to assess whether content requests align with the website proposition and meet the bar for publication.
Stakeholder Management
- Liaise and coordinate across External Affairs and Communications and the wider organisation, ensuring the website is managed in line with strategic priorities and Web team capacity.
- Build a network of internal and external stakeholders, forming strong, constructive working relationships at all levels.
- Manage stakeholder expectations through negotiation and facilitation, maintaining the reputation of the Web team while achieving effective outcomes.
- Lead on managing the web helpdesk product, including its development and any external supplier relationships.
Team and Capability
- Support and coach team members, facilitating collaboration, communication and continuous improvement.
- Lead the delivery of workshops and training for colleagues, acting as an advocate for the website and good web practice.
- Support UKRI's commitment to an inclusive, user‑centred approach to web delivery.
Personal Specification
- Agile or project management qualification or certification.
- Skilled user of planning tools such as ticketing systems, workload management tools and whiteboard tools.
- Knowledge of the content lifecycle and operations for a large, complex product or service.
- Experience in a delivery role making strategic decisions, including prioritisation of content workload, using data and evidence to drive effective outcomes.
- Experience of capacity management.
- Experience of devising and implementing team workflows and processes.
- Effective communication, collaboration and negotiation skills, with a track record of productive stakeholder relationships.
- Experience of working in delivery for a user‑centred design team, including working alongside content designers, user researchers and product managers.
Benefits
- 30 days' annual leave in addition to 10.5 public and privilege days (full time equivalent).
- Employee discounts and offers on retail and leisure activities.
- Employee assistance programme, providing confidential help and advice.
- Flexible working options.
