It’s an exciting time to join UKSBS as we transform our business to be the leading UK public sector business service provider. We are now seeking an experienced Risk & Internal Audit Business Partner to join our Risk and Assurance team to provide support to one of our departments with effective risk management and assurance activity. You will become the key point of contact and subject matter expert for controls assurance and risk management best practice.
The successful applicant will play a key role in supporting audit activity, control testing, and fraud investigations by assessing control design and effectiveness, identifying gaps, and driving timely remediation and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Ensure adherence with the UKSBS Risk Management Framework across the business.
- Identify, challenge, and support the management of key risks and controls.
- Represent Risk & Controls Assurance across the business, identifying, recording, and escalating risks as appropriate, and building strong relationships.
- Review quarterly audit and control testing, assess control performance, and provide guidance on control effectiveness.
- Liaise with Internal Audit colleagues to support assurance activity.
- Drive continuous improvement across controls assurance activity.
- Periodic audit reviews and testing of key controls, to measure effectiveness and performance in line with risk.
- Oversee ISO 27001 internal and external audits, present findings to the business, track recommendations, and report progress to senior management.
- Act as a subject matter expert on ISO 27001, providing guidance, completing required testing, and preparing documentation for external auditors.
- Prepare bi-annual management reports for the Executive.
- Ensure business compliance with ISO 27001 by reviewing operating practices and documentation.
- Support fraud investigations promptly, as required, liaising with Client Fraud functions and external bodies.
- Contribute to fraud risk assessments and the Fraud Action Plan.
- Consider fraud risks and controls through the continuous control assessment work carried out.
To be considered for the role you will possess the following:
- Subject matter expertise in risk management, internal audit, or ISO 27001, with demonstrable work experience.
- Professional qualifications or relevant experience in risk management, internal controls, audit, corporate governance, or compliance.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders across the business.
- Internal audit experience, including assessing the adequacy of risk and control environments and testing controls where required.
- Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively with team members.
- Ability to build strong networks within and beyond the immediate team and business area.
- Ability to lead effective meetings.
