Our Payroll Services team is passionate about delivering high-quality service to our clients and customers. The team operates in a fast-paced, high-energy environment with fixed deadlines and high volumes, offering opportunities to learn and grow.

Operating flexibly and embracing hybrid working, the team meets once or twice weekly in the office to share best practices and discuss issues. Leaders and managers work collaboratively to foster a positive, supportive yet hardworking culture. You will need a tenacious working style and be comfortable in a high-pressure environment with the challenges of a busy, high-volume payroll team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and support payroll team members.
  • Ensure team meets service and performance levels with customers.
  • Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Resolve complex payroll queries in liaison with Payroll Specialists.
  • Handle escalated queries from team or Contact Centre and Customer Experience teams.
  • Adhere to the monthly payroll checklist.
  • Review and approve payroll milestones to ensure quality and mitigate errors.
  • Reconcile and approve third-party payment schedules, resolve discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with third-party providers (e.g., Edenred) for benefits delivery.
  • Work with Finance colleagues to resolve payroll general ledger discrepancies.
  • Provide performance feedback, conduct monthly 1:1s, support career development, and coaching.
  • Support payroll performance and customer satisfaction initiatives.
  • Collaborate with other Payroll Performance Leaders to optimize resources.

Flexibility may be needed to respond to changing organizational needs and support ad hoc projects.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Experience managing and developing a small team.
  • Proven experience in payroll service delivery.
  • Attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies.
  • Strong numerical skills.
  • Good understanding of Excel (e.g., VLOOKUPs) is desirable.
  • Ability to interpret complex payroll data.
  • Focus on high quality, results, outcomes, and excellent customer service.

You will need to obtain BPSS security clearance before starting. UKSBS does not hold a Home Office Sponsor Licence; applicants must have UK eligibility to live and work.

Working Pattern:
