Communications Manager

As our organisation continues to evolve and strengthen, we are looking for an experienced Communications Manager to join our small, busy communications team and support organisational change through clear, engaging and strategic communications.

This is a key role for a communications professional who thrives on translating complex change into simple, timely and impactful messages. You will work as a communications business partner, developing insight-driven plans and delivering multi-channel content that supports our people through change and builds our reputation with clients, partners and candidates.

The duties for this role include but are not limited to the following:

  • Work as a communications business partner responsible for developing and delivering clear, engaging communications to support organisational change.
  • Build networks and relationships of influence at all levels, including senior leaders, to deliver objectives successfully.
  • Lead on the development of an insight driven communications plan for the business area partner and delivery of a range of communications and engagement materials using a multi-channel approach.
  • Working closely with programme teams, leaders, HR, and other stakeholders, the postholder will translate complex change into simple, timely, and impactful communications across multiple channels.
  • Develop, plan, deliver and follow up regular engagement opportunities for different audiences i.e., Town halls, leadership meetings, briefings, achievements.
  • Provide business partnering/engagement and communications advice to the Head of Communications and our senior leadership team.
  • Create communications material in support of project and programme key messages and user-impacting changes.
  • Maximise opportunities to build the UKSBS brand at internal and external events.
  • Act as a brand ambassador.
  • Evaluate activities to continually improve communications delivery.

Flexibility may be required to respond to the changing needs of the organisation and the service. You may also be asked to support with ad hoc projects and pieces of work relevant to your role in line with business requirements.

To do this role well, you would need to demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrable experience of having previously worked in a strategic communication and/or engagement role delivering impactful communications in line with strategic goals.
  • Substantial experience of change communication and engagement with stakeholders of all levels.
  • Practical experience of supporting change initiatives using a recognised framework such as ADKAR.
  • Demonstrable experience of developing and delivering strategic communication plans and tactics which achieve organisational objectives.
  • Ability to work flexibly, with an understanding of the use of different channels and formats for different audiences internally and externally.
  • Track record of building effective stakeholder or collaborative relationships with a range of partners and delivering results through those partnerships.
  • Ability to see the bigger picture and apply strategic thinking, including in times of change.
  • Be able to work flexibly at pace, managing several competing deadlines and rapidly changing priorities at short notice and to very short timescales.
  • Demonstrable experience of developing effective multi-channel content for internal and external channels including events, websites, social media, case studies, award submissions, newsletters, and presentations.
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills.
  • Digital and web publishing experience using content management systems.

The following would be advantageous but are not essential:

  • Formal training or certification in ADKAR or change management.
