Band C: £27,756 per annum

It’s an exciting time to be part of UKSBS as we transform our business to be the leading UK public sector business service provider. We aim to become a very different organisation over the next few years as we move to a modern multi-platform, digitally enabled organisation.

In our HR Operations teams, we provide services and advice across the lifecycle of employees, including issuing letters when staff leave or change jobs in our clients’ organisations. We also process all types of absences, maintain essential information relating to employment and provide advice and support on some of our clients’ HR policies. In our Onboarding teams, we ensure that new joiners to our clients’ organisations have a smooth transition to their new roles, including issuing contracts. We make sure they are enrolled to systems and payroll efficiently and work with our clients to ensure that new joiners have the appropriate rights to work in their organisations.

This is an important operational delivery role which is focused on supporting across one of our HR Services teams to make sure they have HR Operations or Onboarding subject matter knowledge and are empowered to deliver process excellence on behalf of our clients. As-well-as this, you will have a key role in change and continuous improvement, particularly on major projects which have an impact on our future service delivery. In this role, you will need to have in-depth service knowledge of our HR Operations or Onboarding processes, procedures, and systems, including Oracle E-Business Suite.

The Junior SME will act as deputy to the SMEs across HR Services. You will work closely with the SME to share knowledge, help Administrators resolve complex Onboarding queries, and coach team members through challenges. You will also support maintaining skills matrices and training plans.

Additionally, you will contribute to change and improvement work, such as updating desk notes and client knowledge base content when processes evolve.

Responsibilities include:

  • Proactively work with colleagues to deliver high-quality services to our clients and end users. Take shared responsibility for the achievement of SLAs, KPIs and other targets
  • Sharing timely and accurate expert advice and guidance relating to our clients’ HR processes and procedures, under the direction of the SME
  • Contribute to project work and meetings, relating to change and continuous improvement
  • As necessary, update desk notes, training materials and knowledge base content to ensure it is current, accurate and helpful for team members, clients, and customers
  • When required, deputise for the SME
  • Be the go-to team member for junior team members to share your knowledge to resolve complex queries and promote the appropriate use of escalation processes across the team. Use your judgement, creativity, and flexibility to resolve problems
  • Raising any service delivery risks or opportunities to improve our service and working proactively to find solutions
  • As required, produce reports, present information and make recommendations for managers and clients
  • As required, provide support to audits of our service delivery and information management
  • Promote an inclusive, customer centric and proactive team-based culture which identifies, communicates, and addresses customer needs
  • Contribute to effective knowledge sharing with your wider team, customers and clients including coaching, training, and induction

To do this role well you will need:

  • Demonstrable work experience gained across HR processes and procedures including joiners, movers, leavers, contracts and onboarding.
  • Customer focused with a positive, proactive and solutions driven approach
  • Confidence and knowledge to resolve complex HR queries effectively and efficiently
  • Proven track record of successfully managing conflicting priorities in a high volume, service delivery environment
  • Experience of working collaboratively with colleagues to support the achievement of service SLAs and delivery targets
  • Prior coaching experience to support the development and skills of team members regarding our processes
  • Attention to detail with a focus on quality

Closing date for applications is Mon 5th October, with interviews taking place week commencing 12th October.

Successful candidates may be required to undergo Security Clearance (National Security Vetting) as part of their employment. To meet these standards, applicants must normally have lived in the UK for at least the last five years and be able to satisfy background, identity and criminal record checks.

We are UKSBS. We are creating a place where people love to work, a culture where we lead, we change, we deliver and we empower our people to be curious, take action and add value.
