Salary: £37,841 per annum, plus £2,500 Specialist Allowance if MCIPS qualified

Hours: Full-time (Flexible working available)

Location: Harwell Campus, Didcot, Oxfordshire – Hybrid working available (Min 2 days per week in the office)

Job Overview

UK Research & Innovation (UKRI) supports world‑class research across the UK. As a Procurement Officer based at Harwell, Oxfordshire, you will assist procurement staff with complex projects, ensuring compliance with UK public sector procurement regulations and UKRI Procurement Policy. You will draft tender documents, maintain contract folders, support tender evaluation meetings and provide local expertise to end‑users, across a range of values and complexities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft and publish tender documents compliant with UK Public Sector Procurement Regulations.
  • Maintain contract folders in a regulated environment with a clear audit trail.
  • Undertake multiple procurement sourcing/contracting actions using the most appropriate route to market in line with UKRI Procurement Policy.
  • Provide advice when requirements should be directed to the shared service centre.
  • Support Procurement Managers in tender evaluation moderation meetings.
  • Provide local expertise and support to end‑users to undertake a range of procurement tasks, including sourcing and contracting.

Personal Specification

Qualifications

  • MCIPS qualified or willing to work towards MCIPS.
  • Experience in a commercial role within a regulated environment, following standard operating procedures.
  • Experience using IT systems in a commercial role.
  • Experience of updating and keeping organised records.
  • Clear written English for accurately drafting contracts.
  • Understanding of terms and conditions contexts and meanings.
