We are looking to appoint a full‑time qualified barrister, solicitor (or equivalent) within the Investigations and Enforcement team. The team is responsible for investigating allegations against barristers and taking disciplinary or other action on behalf of the BSB. As the successful post holder you will hold your own caseload, including complex cases.
Responsibilities
- Investigating reports received of barristers’ conduct
- Gathering evidence and deciding on the content of bundles
- Drafting allegations, reports and charges
- Corresponding with barristers, witnesses and anyone involved in the regulatory process
- Ensuring decisions are made in line with the Scheme of Delegation
- Attending hearings and supporting counsel at tribunals and appeals before the High Court
Key skills and experience required
- Qualified barrister, solicitor, FCILEX (or equivalent)
- Minimum 2 years PQE or equivalent experience
- Experience of legal procedures or litigation
- Substantial experience of casework
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, sharing knowledge and supporting other members of staff
- Knowledge of regulatory procedures and/or experience of working for a regulator is desirable
