SPC oversees firms and individuals (supervision), creates and reviews the rules by which they operate (policy) and identifies and remedies ineffective competition in markets (competition). Sitting within the Specialist Directorate, the Resolution Strategy, Operations & CASS (ReSOC) department leads the FCA’s efforts to enhance client asset protection thereby boosting consumer protection and market integrity through risk assessment, data analysis and supervision of firms’ compliance with the Client Assets Sourcebook.
Role Responsibilities:
- Support the CASS Operations, Data and Risk team as a first-line intake point for information and data received by ReSOC (from firms, auditors and internal stakeholders).
- Apply a consistent, risk-based approach to prioritise incoming correspondence and data, identify key themes and potential consumer harm indicators, and elevate appropriately within agreed timescales.
- Produce concise analysis and MI for stakeholders to support timely decision-making and effective allocation of work across ReSOC and wider FCA teams, ensuring decisions are well informed and aligned to consumer protection goals.
- Develop deep knowledge of the CASS regime, enhancing your grasp of how firms protect client assets across the UK.
- Identify recurring issues, bottlenecks and avoidable rework; propose and implement process improvements (e.g., templates, guidance, automation opportunities, standard operating procedures) to improve efficiency and quality.
