We have an opportunity for a Data Management Specialist to join our Operational Performance and Data Strategy Team within Delivery Directorate. The Senior Associate, Data Management role has an important and valuable contribution to enable us to deliver on our goals and regulatory commitments.
The role sits within our Delivery Directorate and is part of the Operational Performance and Data Strategy (OPaDS) team. The data team manage the data ingestion of data collected by the business into our central database Ocean; the role will support the timely validation and loading of data. The team's main function is ensuring accurate data is available to the business and is not limited to loading data. There will also be opportunities to validate templates used for data collection, supporting development of processes that ensure consistency and loanability of the collections into Ocean, supporting business teams using our expert knowledge to create input and output sheets that link to and from Ocean, and looking at innovative solutions to the challenges of the data collected and ingested.
Ofwat holds and collects a large amount of data. This is a critical resource that presents opportunities and, if treated inappropriately, risks. To deliver performance and delivery reporting, the organisation needs access to accurate data in a timely way in order to make effective decisions. We therefore need to ensure data is managed effectively. The team’s vision is to achieve this. We will need to get the best out of data, develop new ways of working, and work collaboratively with others across the organisation.
You will need to help us get the best out of data. Much of Ofwat’s work uses an established database and Excel. However, we are looking to improve the way we work through innovative approaches and using different technology and software. Therefore, the ability to both harness existing processes as well as being an adaptable thinker is crucial.
More fundamentally, the candidate will need to be delivery-focused, detail-focused, motivated, an analytical thinker, keen to learn, and able to collaborate effectively with others.
