The predicted salary is between 80000 - 90000 £ per year.
This Overhead Operational Engineer – SAP will report to the Lead Operational Engineer and will work within UKPN Services based in our Chatham office. You will be a Permanent employee.
You will attract a salary of £80,574 plus car and a bonus of 3%.

Job Purpose
A vacancy exists for an experienced Overhead Operational Project Engineer to work with the Southern Region Projects and Maintenance Teams, to plan and deliver new connection work, diversions, fault location and repair in addition to lifecycle replacement schemes and construction activities associated with electrical distribution equipment and infrastructure.
Principle Accountabilities
- Ensure safety management throughout all responsibilities.
- Responsibility for delivery of all construction, maintenance and fault works to time, cost and quality.
- Ensure compliance with all policies and work to a high standard of quality.
- Daily planning, coordination and real-time responsibility for the efficient utilisation of resources.
- Liaise with HV/LV control – submission of HV/LV switching schedules, complete HV/LV network operations in accordance to distribution safety rules and procedures
- Support and provide technical support to field staff.
- Produce Risk Assessments and Method Statements for the safe delivery of projects work.
- Complete quality assurance checks of works completed and rectify any quality issues identified.
- Liaise with and manage relationships with our customers to meet their expectations wherever possible.
- Be prepared to assist other sections e.g. organisational changes, system emergencies as determined by your experience.
- Complete out of hours safety/emergency response (Standby).
- Management/Supervision of contractors, carrying out high and low voltage maintenance activities.
Qualifications
- OHL Senior Authorised Person as defined by the Distribution Safety Rules – Preferable 33kV.
- Experience in distribution systems through the range 400v to 33kV.
- Educated to a minimum HNC level qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- High Level of Customer Focus, adds value to the customer and ensures the team completes all projects to customer expectations.
- Team Working, manages and integrates well in a team and promotes good teamwork.
- Analytical
- Achieve full Ministry of Defence Security Clearance.
- Identify problems, understand important issues and investigate alternatives.
- Hold full driving licence.
- Work with minimum supervision and manage and prioritise a varied work load,
- Communicate at all levels.
- Work as part of a small team committed to the delivery of a high profile project.
- Use Microsoft Office suite, Outlook, MS Project and other bespoke software packages
- An understanding of Health and Safety and Environmental Legislation, CDM standards and focussed on safe working.
- Initiative, acts in the interest of the company to develop the business to agreed objectives.

Success will be measured by the Project Engineer\’s understanding and management in the following areas:
- Technical competence
- Adherence to internal and external safety systems and quality systems
- Project management
- Resource-management

If you do not have all relevant competencies for the core grade, it will be appropriate to appoint at a lower grade until you have developed the required competencies.
