Fitter in Norwich

This fitter will report to the field staff supervisor and will work within network operations based in our Norwich office. You will be a permanent employee in our UK Power Networks team. You will attract a salary of £41,031 plus company benefits and a bonus of 3%. If you are successful, you will need to undertake a medical and DBS reference check.

Job role:

Working in the field at different locations maintaining & repairing plant and equipment at various substations on the electrical distribution network, up to and including the 132Kv volt system.

Duties:

• Responsibility for all aspects of Safety, Health and Environment relevant to this role.
• To perform risk assessments and maintain safe working practices.
• Be able to operate hand held IT equipment to receive job instructions and record asset data information.
• Maintain electrical plant and equipment from the low voltage network up to and including the 132kv volt network.
• Undertake sub station inspections.
• Report hazards and defects that they are unable to rectify through the appropriate reporting procedure.
• Ensure quality of works meets with current policies and procedures.
• Be an ambassador for UK Power Networks delivering excellent customer service.
• Be able to work on their own or as part of a team.

Nature & Scope:

You will be expected to work as part of a team of fitters that report to a Field Staff Supervisor and have the support of experienced Field Engineers. The role is predominantly based in the Norwich Area. Although you may be required to travel anywhere within the UK Power Networks area.

Skills and Experience:

Essential:

• Hold a current driving licence.
• Have or be prepared to work towards a City & Guilds 2339 (formally 232) certificate in Electrical Power Distribution (or similar).
• Show experience of working on regional electricity networks and therefore have knowledge of the electrical distribution network would be an advantage but is not essential.

Desirable:

• Able to travel to sites across Norfolk.
• Previous DNO experience highly desirable.
• Ability to work on own initiative.

• Have the enthusiasm to learn and develop new skills and techniques.
• Demonstrate a strong safety culture.
• Be flexible in their approach to work.
