UK Power Networks are looking for an experienced Construction Lead Field Engineer to join the Capital Programme directorate in the Southern region (Kent, Sussex, Surrey). Reporting to the Construction Manager, you will lead the safe, efficient and customer-focused delivery of critical network investment, NAMP and Major Connection projects from LV up to 132kV, ensuring work is completed on time, to cost and to the required quality standards.
This permanent role offers a salary of £99,127.00, a car or car allowance and a 3% bonus, alongside a competitive benefits package.
You will support Capital Programme Investment Delivery and wider company targets by coordinating the performance of around 10 Project and Commissioning Engineers across operational disciplines. You will provide engineering, safety and management leadership, promote the stay safe culture, ensure compliance with company procedures and required standards, and mentor engineers so that capability and performance continue to improve.
You will deputise for the Construction Manager when required and work closely with Network Planners, Area Lead Engineers, Senior Project Managers, Project Supervisors, the resource planning manager, internal teams, external customers and Networks experts to prioritise workload, schedule planned work, remove barriers to delivery and maintain the right balance between safety, cost, quality and programme delivery.
You will take daily planning, coordination and real-time responsibility for the efficient use of directly employed staff and, where appropriate, contractors across a portfolio worth approximately £35 million. You will help improve area performance, enhance customer experience, resolve escalated technical customer issues, support continuous improvement through Coaching For Performance and new technology, carry out Field Engineer operational audits, contribute to strategic resource planning and support local tactical readiness during system emergencies.
We are looking for a field engineering leader with strong operational understanding, sound judgement, integrity and the ability to influence, motivate and organise others in a complex, fast-moving environment. You should bring initiative, commitment to business targets and experience delivering complex customer and operational projects to time and budget. Ideally, you will hold an HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, Full SAP at 11kV, 33kV and 132kV, a NEBOSH Certificate, leadership and communication training, a NRSWA Supervisors certificate and a clean driving licence.
