The predicted salary is between 74900 - 104900 £ per year.

This Commercial Lead will report to the Regional Commercial Manager and will work on the Emergency System Restoration (ESR) programme being delivered from our Crawley office. You will be a Permanent employee with a salary of £94,906 plus car and a bonus of 3%. This role can also offer blended working after the probationary period (6 months) - 3 days in the office and 2 remote.

Job Purpose:

To assist the Commercial Manager and the wider commercial team in providing competent and professional commercial support to the Southern Region Commercial Manager, on the Emergency System Restoration (ESR) programme. The successful applicant will be working on schemes in all three UKPN areas (SPN, EPN and LPN). The Commercial Lead will be required to provide a supporting role during initial procurement before taking ownership for delivery through to final account. Responsibilities include managing commercial matters for contracts and projects regarding contract set-up, management, pricing, service delivery, scope change, and dispute resolution.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Be the commercial lead on a portfolio of client construction projects.
  • Comply with all UKPN guidelines, business objectives, and procedures.
  • Ensure that the project delivery team acts in accordance with the Contract.
  • Liaise with all external and internal stakeholders to enable project progression.
  • Assist in the preparation of activity schedules and tender documentation.
  • Interface with various managers to deliver advice and support.
  • Manage a programme of current workload to ensure resource allocation.
  • Provide guidance to junior members of staff.
  • Produce quality reports and assess contractor applications.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to review and update risk registers.
  • Advise on the application and interpretation of different forms of contract.
  • Manage and report change control procedures within contracts.
  • Review Principal/Main Contractors Subcontracts for compliance.
  • Work with Senior Project Managers to resolve contract issues.
  • Consider alternative strategies for dispute resolution.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Quantity surveying experience.
  • A track record in managing complex, high value contracts.
  • Degree qualified in quantity surveying or relevant business discipline.
  • Professional qualification and/or membership of RICS, CIOB, ICES or other relevant Chartered Institute is advantageous.
  • Experienced in using Word, Excel, PowerPoint to an intermediate/advanced level and SAP.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain relationships with service providers and company partners.
  • Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH) Certificate is advantageous.
