You will attract a salary of £68,144.00 and a bonus of 3%. This role can also offer blended working after probationary period (6 months) – 3 days in the office and 2 remote.

Job Purpose:

The Project Supervisor in the Capital Programme Operations Team manages the Project team of operatives, whether UKPN staff or contractors, and supports all Project Engineers and Site Supervisors with all schemes from the APP and Major Connections portfolio. You will coordinate and organise site operatives to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and within UK Power Networks standards.

Dimensions:

  • Direct line management responsibility for circa 8–10 staff and agency staff.
  • Liaison, coordination and cooperation with Programme managers and Project Managers to help deliver the regional APP/Connections portfolio.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Help develop multiple projects from Gate A to Gate D.
  • Manage a portfolio of multiple projects.
  • Attend required project‑specific meetings and project reviews.
  • Oversee multiple aspects of a project, including input on budget, programme, quality, safety, environmental and compliance.
  • Ensure construction assurance through audits on quality of work, technical competencies and adherence to specifications.
  • Ensure project completion data such as as‑built and RIGs are submitted for processing.
  • Act as the Site Supervisor with composition of CDM and Safety Documentation where required.
  • Line‑manage UKPN Site Supervisors/fitters.
  • Produce site delivery plans and ensure provision of direct and contract resources, materials and services to maintain project programmes.
  • Provide monthly achievement reports and forecasts.
  • Contribute to the pre‑construction phases of a project.
  • Ensure high levels of Customer Service – minimise CIs & CMLs, network risk and customer complaints.
  • Ensure all workers are aware of safety and environmental requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Help with the design stage by supporting designers on buildability and producing the Hazard Elimination and Management Checklist (HEML).
  • Attend meetings with partners under the direction of the Project Engineer.
  • Liaise and seek guidance from the nominated Project Engineer, AP or SAP.
  • Advise on restrictions and site conditions that may affect designs, reports and delivery.
  • Ensure projects are delivered to design and/or specification.
  • Understand activity methodology to ensure electrical precautions are appropriate.
  • Raise TQ’s, CE, and EWN issues that may affect delivery and submit via Unifier.
  • Coordinate with supply chain and Project Management to ensure stocked and non‑stocked items are delivered promptly.
  • Capture accurate As Built/Laid Information and relay to Designers or For Networks Records.
  • Act as site team spokesperson and coordinate day‑to‑day activities with client/contractor.
  • Issue task instructions following the DSR’s.
  • Issue LOAs for works on site following the DSR’s.
  • Ensure RAMS and Safe Systems of Work are in place.
  • Ensure the Putting People to Work policy is followed.
  • Obtain quotations from suppliers and raise Purchase Order requests in coordination with Business Support.
  • Seek personal and others’ continuous development.
  • Manage Project Quality Management Plans and manage quality control following CAP 05 001 and act as the Client’s Supervisor.
  • Perform Site and BE audits and record them on AIRLine.
  • Perform role under the New Engineering Contract 3 or QA for the UKPN quality plan.
  • Hold Risk Reduction Meetings as directed by the Project Engineer/Manager.
  • Manage resource profile for UKPN staff and contractors to maximise productivity.

Required Qualifications:

  • Distribution Network awareness training and basic knowledge of the Network.
  • Hold NRSWA supervisor qualifications.
  • Temporary Works – Temporary Work coordinator and/or Temporary Works Supervisor.
  • Skills to manage groundwork, construction and cable‑laying activities (civil‑based background).
  • Authorised to issue Limitation of Access.
  • Manage Long Objects in Open Bar Compounds up to 132 kV.
  • Permit to Work.
  • Hold a full driving licence.
  • Electrical Engineering HNC/HND or in Construction or Civil Engineering.
  • Working knowledge of safety & environmental regulations relating to construction work.
  • Safety qualification such as NEBOSH preferred but must have IOSH & CITB SMSTS.
  • Experience with CDM regulations and ISO9001 quality processes.
  • Understand and apply UK Power Networks policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of P6 Primavera and Microsoft Office suite essential.
  • Project Management knowledge an advantage.
  • Flexible attitude to work and working hours.
  • Awareness of business financial and regulatory obligations.
  • Ability to build relationships with colleagues and external partners.
  • Use own initiative to solve problems; self‑motivated with ambition to achieve.
